This book covers the fishing rod and tackle makers and manufacturers, companies and individuals who existed in the 19th and 20th centuries from around 1850 to 1980 with the odd earlier or later exception thrown in if they were considered particularly relevant.Primarily covering bamboo and wood rods from the inception of split cane until the introduction of fibreglass as the preferred building material. It is intended as a reference guide, and gives a short (in some cases long) history of each manufacturer or tackle maker and includes many of their advertisements from the time, as a lot can be learned from them and it is a favourite pastime of the author to troll old magazines and newspapers hunting them out.
